Strong, cool winds made Athletics Victoria’s road relays at Sandown Racecourse tough going.

Running over 6.2km legs – 6 for men and 5 for women – it was a test of the depth of club colours. Glenhuntly took out the men’s event ahead of Bendigo Region and Box Hill (with Knox’s Division 2 team the third fastest of the day), while Box Hill had the better of Glenhuntly and St Stephen’s Harriers in the women’s event.

The latter came down to the final leg, with Box Hill’s Victoria Skaltsonis overtaking 15-year-old Glenhuntly runner Madison King and running away for a 29 second victory.

In the men’s event Glenhuntly led Bendigo at each change, and led the race from the second leg after Western Region’s Liam Cashin led at the first change.
