Ed Marks streaks to victory at Lakeside10

Ed Marks continued his exceptional road form with a dominant win at the 2025 Lakeside10, clocking 28:55 to take out the men’s title in a fast and deep field.

Backing up recent strong performances, including a runaway win at the Victoria Cross Country titles in Ballarat and a slick 13:54 performance at the Lakeside5, Marks proved once again he’s a force on the roads, surging clear of Matt Buckell (29:11) over the final stages. South Australian’s seasoned campaigned, Adrian Potter (29:15) took third in a race that saw 18 men dip under the 30-minute barrier â€” a striking sign of the depth in Victorian distance running.

On the women’s side, Sarah Klein claimed top honours in 33:45, showing strong form ahead of her appearance in the marathon at the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo. The Victorian marathoner was followed home by  Georgia Hansen (33:59) and Charlotte Wilson (34:08), with five women finishing under 35 minutes.

Steve Moneghetti

James Cruse (30:46) and Finn Cane (30:30) took out the U20 and U18 men’s races respectively, while Ally Brooks (36:42) won the U20 women’s race. In the 60+ men’s race marathoning legend Steve Moneghetti clocked 34:12 to beat home close to three-quarters of the field.

Held on Melbourne’s flat and fast Albert Park circuit on two-laps of an out-and-back-course, the Lakeside10 once again lived up to its reputation as one of the country’s premier winter road races, delivering quick times, tight battles, and a perfect stage for athletes building towards the national cross country championships and marathon festivals in Sydney (August) and Melbourne (October).
