The most unusual European athletics season since World War II rolls on for Stewart McSweyn, Matthew Ramsden, Ryan Gregson and Nicola McDermott on Thursday at the Rome Diamond League meet.

The quartet were in action overnight in Zagreb, Croatia at the 70th Hanzekovic Memorial.

McSweyn showed he is a force to be reckoned with on the global circuit, dismantling the field in the 1500m when the pacemaker dropped out at halfway. He went on to record victory by two seconds in a fast 3:32.17, his fourth fastest performance ever.

In third was Matthew Ramsden, who set his fifth personal best in six races over the past 27 days. His 3:34.83 moves him to #12 on the Australian all-time list.
